| | A better understanding of the local background | | | This section presents an overview of the project partner countries. Three kinds of information are presented: - the national context assessing the state of water and soil resources and of agricultural development;
- a brief survey of the environmental issues that could be encountered in the irrigated areas;
- the projects carried out, in progress or to come, which try to limit the negative impacts of the development of irrigated agriculture.
